Hand-painted in a simple, yet bold design, this mudcloth pillow can effortlessly make a statement. With its neutral palette and subtle pattern, it goes with, well, pretty much everything.
Each mudcloth pillow is made from authentic mudcloth from the West African nation of Mali. In Bambara, the native language of Mali, the cloth is known as bogolanfini, meaning earth or mud with cloth. The cloth is a handmade Malian organic cotton fabric that is dyed using a process of fermented mud from the Niger river that dates back to the 12th century. To learn more about the process, please visit our Dayo page. Each of these patterns tells a story of the maker using symbols passed on from generation to generation.
